Oriana Brine Senior Sustainability Strategist Background My role at Forum draws on my commercial and science background, and I work alongside businesses in Asia Pacific to develop and drive transformative sustainability strategies. We have an impressive number of global partners, and I enjoy working together with them to remain competitive and thrive in increasingly challenging conditions. I have first-hand experience of what makes large corporates tick, spending the last 10 years working across food, energy, and shipping industries to create change. My career started in consulting, facilitating workshops for an energy company developing a multi-billion dollar wind farm and interviewing dairy farmers to evaluate their sustainability practices. I worked for the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries as an incident manager for invasive pests and diseases that posed environmental or economic risks and in food safety managing relationships with exporters and governments across the Pacific. More recently I worked for New Zealand's largest seafood company Sanford, in marketing and innovation where we developed products that utilised waste and New Zealand's largest energy company Vector, in branding and change management for the executive team. I studied biodiversity and marine science, graduating with a Masters in Science from the University of Auckland. Dream Forum Project An ideal project would tackle a range of questions. Why is a simple measure of the total cost of goods and services sold in an economy in one year the overriding goal of policy making? How do we further enable economics to be distributive by design to increase the support for financial, political, and social innovations? How can businesses reduce financial losses when transitioning in response to climate related risks? Outside of work Singapore is my home, but I’m a Kiwi Canadian who spent time growing up in Japan. I enjoy trekking with friends in remote parts of Asia (Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng and Khao Sok are my favourites), creating chocolate and chilli concoctions, and as a pianist I love live music.
