Are you passionate about a deep and urgent transition to a just and regenerative future?

Forum for the Future is looking for a Project Funding Finance and Operations Manager to support the development, finance and program teams to effectively and accurately manage our incoming funding and contracts.

About the role

Forum is at an exciting time in our evolution, offering opportunities for unprecedented impact. We believe that the energy, food and market systems are at pivotal crossroads. Their transitions will either be deep, deliberate and urgent, tackling the root causes of the challenges we face today in producing and using energy, food and in the purpose business. Or they will fall short, with ‘solutions’ addressing specific problems in isolation, going neither far or fast enough, while simultaneously risking unintended consequences. Forum’s ambition is to drive a socially just and ecologically safe transition to a renewable energy system, a regenerative food system and a market system that is aligned to enabling a just and regenerative future.

Our funding across our international entities is diverse, from corporate contracts to philanthropic grants. As our ambition increases, so too does the funding required.

In this role, you will support development and finance colleagues and program and project teams in the management of a project funding portfolio consisting of some of Forum’s largest and most complex awards. This includes supporting teams to develop and revise budgets, preparing and submitting financial reports, analysing allocable expenses and ensuring compliance with all funder requirements and policies. The Project Funding Finance and Operations Manager will also collaborate closely with the international finance team on the development of appropriate policies and systems to manage project funding activity and reporting, and will help ensure integrity of contracts, agreements and financial transactions and reporting in the context of project funding and other awards.

About you

To thrive in this role, we think that you will need the following characteristics:

  • Proven experience managing different types of project funding such as grants and nonprofit or hybrid nonprofit / for profit organisation finances.

  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations and requirements.

  • Working knowledge of contract law and how to draft and interpret contracts.

  • Experience in reporting to funders, including detailed financial reporting.

  • Ability to understand, analyse and interpret financial information in varying formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Strong ability to organise workload when faced with competing priorities and to complete work assignments on a timely basis.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Capable of working in highly distributed and networked global teams, using digital platforms to coordinate working across geographies and time zones.

  • Able to work with diverse stakeholders and delivery partners with effective stakeholder communication and engagement.

  • A commitment to Forum’s purpose, culture and values

  • Strong sustainability ethos

  • A global perspective on sustainability as well as on organisational culture

  • Resilience

  • Self-reflection, continual learning and development

  • A team player

  • A high degree of innovation, creativity and adaptability

  • Proactive

  • Flexibility and willingness to work internationally and travel, if required

  • Fluent and clear written and spoken English, additional languages would be beneficial

We do not have an ‘ideal’ candidate in mind as we recognise and value the range of diverse experiences that people can bring to a role. If you do not meet all the requirements outlined in the job description but still believe you have the right mix of skills and experience to thrive in this role and further Forum’s ambitious goals for change, we encourage you to apply.

If this piqued your interest, please read on and apply to join our team. We look forward to receiving your application!
